A friend that I've known for almost 9 years and it's her big day today. Called her at 12:32am when I was having supper with my mates after our event. She haven't slept yet and maybe she was waiting for my call. :P We talked for quite awhile and it reminded me of our school time. How I wish that time would turn back to the olden days.

She was one of my best-est amie and even until now, we still keep in touch with each other. Whenever I go back, I would call her out for lunch or dinner or have a drink at our usual place.

Instead of counting candles,

Or tallying the years,

Contemplate your blessings now,

As your birthday nears.

Consider special people

Who love you, and who care,

And others who’ve enriched your life

Just by being there.

Think about the memories

Passing years can never mar,

Experiences great and small

That have made you who you are.

Another year is a happy gift,

Speaking of it, our event was considered to be a successful one. Although there's some technical problems, but still we managed to pull it through. I'm glad that it's all over now. Only for the time being.

Welcome back, dear brother!

After a year plus I haven't seen him, he's finally back! Last saturday, I was at Mid Valley's MPH with Dai Lou and when I called my mum asking whether I could buy the book that I wanted, she suddenly mentioned " Hey, you know Jeremiah's in KL now?" I'm like "Really?" I knew he was going back to Sandakan on the 21st but I didn't know that he was going to stay in KL for 4 days! I quickly called him and he was complaining how long he had to wait for his room to be ready and bla bla bla. Poor thing.

So after that, I planned to mmet him up and he said " I want to go to Mid Valley" =.=" So in the end, I went to Mid Valley AGAIN the next day.

I met him up at around 2 and I almost couldn't recognise him because he's GAINED WEIGHT! He kept asking me " Celestine, I really gain weight d?" "Yes, yes, yes. You've gained weight d la. Loss some weight la you." The girlfriend said he said he would do, but in the end he just talk big only. :D

Anyway, after that we went to Shogun in Sunway for dinner. So, I called up my other cousin to see whether he could join us or not since he couldn't join us at Mid Valley.

When we were eating, we talked about our childhood stories where we used to play 老鹰抓小鸡

at our grandma's house because we used to visit our grandma every Friday. There were 8 of us and the house would be so noisy. It's really fun. Kinda miss those times.

I used to sleep over at his house every Saturday after church. I still remembered the night when he sang "My Way", he sang so loud that he even asked me a stupid question "Do you think our neighbours would hear me?" I laughed like mad and his mum, also my godmother came into the room and frowned at us. She too thought that her son was crazy after listening to him singing - I recorded it without him knowing. :P

He used to fetch me up from school if my mum was busy with her extra classes. So, we would go for lunch or I would hang out at his house. He's the only cousin I could hang out with because he's the only one left in Sandakan. Well, there were one or two but they were busy working so I seldom spend time with them unless it's Friday. :)

So that's the end of our meeting. Thought of meeting him today for dinner but I couldn't make it. Gonna miss you miah. Will find some time to get crazy at your house with salie and tung tung ok? :)

I come across this interesting stories of the Chinese Mid Autumn Festival or Mooncake Festival. It's about how this festival was first celebrated...

Chang'e and Hou Yi

Long long ago, there were 10 suns on the sky. They burnt all the plants on the earth. People were dying.

One day, a hero whose name was Hou Yi used his bow and arrows to shoot down nine of them. All the people on the earth were saved.

One day, the queen of heaven gave Hou Yi a bottle elixir which could make Hou Yi become an immortal but the elixir was only efficacious for one person. Hou Yi did want to become an immortal but he wanted to stay with her beautiful wife Chang'e more, so he didn't drink the elixir and asked his wife Chang'e to keep it for him.

Hou Yi was becoming more and more famous after he shot down the nine suns and more and more men wanted Hou Yi to be their master. Most of them were accepted by Hou Yi.

Not every student of Hou Yi had good morality. Feng Meng, one of his students, wanted to seize his elixir. One day, Hou Yi went hunting with his students but Feng Meng pretended to be ill and stay at home. When making sure Hou Yi had gone he went to Hou Yi's house and tried to force Chang'e to give him the elixir. Chang'e knew she couldn't defeat Feng Meng so she drank the elixir immediately. The elixir made her become an immortal and fly higher and higher. Finally, she stopped on the moon.

From then on, people often pray Chang'e for fortune and safety. Especially on the Mid-Autumn Festival they prepared lots of foods for Chang'e.

The Jade Rabbit

One day, three immortals who were living in the heaven came to the earth. They asked a fox, a monkey and a rabbit to find some food for them respectively. The fox and the monkey both found something for the three immortals while the rabbit got nothing. The rabbit felt very sorry for the three immortals. Finally, he jumped into the fire and said to the three immortals "eat me, please!" the three immortal were deep moved by the rabbit. They decided to entitle the rabbit a reputation of "Jade Rabbit" and let him accompany Chang'e in the Moon Palace.

Other Moon Festival Legends

According to another legend, on this day the "Man in the Moon" was spotted at an inn, carrying a writing tablet. When questioned, he said he was recording the names of all the happy couples who were fated to marry and live happily forever after.

Accordingly, just as June is the traditional month for exchanging nuptials in the west, many Chinese weddings are held during the eighth lunar month, with the fifteenth day being the most popular.

Just thought of sharing the history of it. :/ because they remind me of something... :P
